Treatment Options

As our fertility struggles vary, so will IVF patients’ need for a treatment.  At My IVF Alternative we have put together a basic outline of treatments available so that you can get the right IVF treatment for your individual needs:

  1. Non donor IVF treatment
  2. Donor IVF treatments (eggs, sperm, embryos)
  3. Surrogacy

1. Non donor IVF treatment

Since most of us cannot take off for 21+ days for In vitro fertilization, we have come up with a shorter stay, thanks to our precise scheduling and coordination. Not only is the shorter IVF vacation schedule more feasible for most, but more importantly, IVF patients can be sure that once you travel to the Czech Republic, your IVF treatment will progress smoothly and the chances of your cycle being canceled (cysts, poor response to drugs, other complications) are minimal. Based on your preference and your protocol you can plan on spending 8-14 days in Czech for the In vitro fertilization.

Tests needed for non donor IVF:

Female partners only: Blood test for FSH, LH, TSH,E2 and Prolactin done within the first three days of a menstrual cycle (starting from a full bleed), less than 6 months old
Both partners: Blood test for Hepatitis B & C, HIV 1&2 and Syphilis less than 1 year old

Tests recommended for non donor IVF:

Recent pap smear, prenatal exam by your OB/GYN, mammogram (if applicable)
Sperm analysis

Non donor IVF Pre-treatment prescription:

Any kind of Monophasic birth control pills – this will help prepare your body for the treatment and travel. It is important that your BCP is monophasic (meaning that the hormonal level in each active pill is the same) and you have about two months' worth.

Completed medical questionnaire, covering your and your partner's medical/fertility history. This form will be e-mailed to you together with our IVF treatment contract.

2. Donor IVF treatments

  1. donor eggs
  2. donor sperm
  3. donor embryos

Czech legislation allows only for anonymous donation (eggs, sperm and embryos). No pictures of donors are available. However, you can specify some of the donor's characteristics that are important to you such as: height, hair color, eye color, weight. You can also provide a picture of yourself for the doctors to match the donor more closely to your looks.

All donors are Caucasians ranging from fair to darker skin.

In order for a volunteer to be accepted into the donation program (eggs or sperm) they need to first meet strict requirements.

All tests follow The 2002 Guidelines for oocyte donation of The American Society for Reproductive Medicine published in Fertility and Sterility Vol. 77, No.6, Suppl. 5 in June 2002.

Screening and tests include

  • Personal and sexual history
  • Psychological evaluation
  • Testing for STDs
    • Serologic testing for Syphilis
    • Serologic testing for HBV a HCV
    • Serologic testing for CMV
    • Serologic testing for HIV
    • Serologic testing for Chlamydia trachomatis
  • Test for blood group and Rh
  • Genetic evaluation
  • History of familial diseases
  • Caryotype
  • Screening for cystic fibrosis

Before a donor is matched to you, about 2-3 weeks prior to your treatment, we'll send you the possible IVF donor's description for your approval: year of birth, blood type, hair/eye color, height, weight, achieved education , possibly if she has donated before or if she has her own family. Thanks to the IVF clinic's extensive donors' database, there is no wait time for egg/sperm donors. However, scheduling of an egg donor IVF treatment, can take several months depending on your medical/fertility condition.

Tests needed for egg donor IVF:

Female partner: Trans vaginal ultrasound measuring the thickness of the uterus lining (endometrium) and checking the uterine cavity for any possible polyps, scaring etc. 12-14 days from the beginning of the cycle (starting with the full bleed)

Male partner: Blood test for Hepatitis B & C, HIV 1&2 and Syphillis less than 1 year old

Tests recommended for IVF:

Recent pap smear
Prenatal exam by your OB/GYN Mammogram (if applicable) Sperm analysis

Donor Eggs IVF Pre-treatment prescription:

At My IVF Alternative, we recommend keeping a prescription for two months worth of Monophasic birth control pills – this will help prepare your body for the treatment and travel. It is important that your BCP is monophasic (meaning that the hormonal level in each active pill is the same). Depending on your fertility history you may or may not need them.

Completed medical questionnaire, covering you and your partner's medical/fertility history; Questionnaire for OD recipient. These forms will be e-mailed to you together with our contract.

a) Donor Eggs

Once you are provided with an In vitro fertilization treatment date, you can plan on spending only 7 days in Czech to complete your IVF treatment with donor eggs, thanks to our precise scheduling and coordination. Partner's sperm used for IVF fertilization can be fresh or frozen.

b) Donor Sperm

Our IVF clinic has its own sperm bank. If you wish, you can arrange for a frozen sperm specimen to be shipped to the clinic from any sperm bank of your choice.

c) Donor Embryos

There are two options when considering donor embryos:

  • Fresh embryos – donor's and recipient's cycles are coordinated and retrieved eggs are fertilized by donor sperm.
  • Frozen embryos – donor eggs are fertilized by donor sperm and frozen.

3. Surrogacy

This type of treatment is available with own eggs, donor eggs, donor sperm or donor embryos. Unfortunately, at this time we are unable to help you with a surrogate. Couples in need of this type of IVF treatment need to have their own surrogate mother contracted.

Tests needed for IVF with surrogacy:

Woman providing eggs: Blood test for FSH, LH, TSH, E2 and Prolactin done within the first three days of a menstrual cycle (starting from a full bleed), less than 6 months old

Surrogate: Trans vaginal ultrasound measuring the thickness of the uterus lining (endometrium) and checking the uterine cavity for any possible polyps, scaring etc. 12-14 days from the beginning of the cycle (starting with the full bleed)

Woman providing eggs and man providing sperm: Blood test for Hepatitis B & C, HIV 1&2 and Syphilis less than 1 year old

Tests recommended for IVF with surrogacy:

Both females: Recent pap smear prenatal exam by your OB/GYN, mammogram (if applicable)
Sperm analysis

IVF Pre-treatment prescription (both females):

Any kind of monophasic birth control pills – this will help prepare your body for the treatment and travel. It is important that your BCP is monophasic (meaning that the hormonal level in each active pill is the same) and you have about two months' worth.

Completed medical questionnaire, covering your and your partner's medical/fertility history. This form will be e-mailed to you together with our contract.
